I have a very pleasure staying in Otaru at Emina Backpackers, was touched by the nice lady Ms Modok(sorry if I m spell wrongly),she and her 5yrs cute boy was extremely helpful and friendly.if I come again ,definitely will choose this place.esp it is quite near tiangou moutain and have directly buy to the Otura jr station and ...everything is perfect:P ----Jiayi Li

I felt that the atmosphere was extremely friendly and welcoming. I had some difficulty finding it at first because I didn't understand how to read Japanese addresses and I had also never been to Otaru. As a solo traveler it was a minor inconvenience. Luckily I speak enough Japanese to ask locals for directions. The only problem with my stay was the electric heater that kept turning off. I didn't quite understand how to use it and as a result, returned to a room that was 3 degrees Celsius. Other than that the hostel itself was a fun place to stay and I would definitely go again.
